I am just like most of you...I have a day job, work as hard as I can, pay my bills, take vacations when possible and I create music on my days off. So, how did it all started?
I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. I came to Chicago when I was young and moved to L.A. where I have lived for almost 16 years now. My passion for music started at a young age. I was supposed to be doing my homework at that time, but instead, I was tickling the keys of our upright piano down in the living room. I came from a typical Filipino family that says “no” to pursuing music, so I totally did the opposite. I asked my neighbor (Lola Lourdes) to teach me how to play the piano, not knowing she would teach me classical piano and use a pencil to hit my hands when I made a mistake.
After learning the basics, I started to play by ear, experimenting with melodies and writing lyrics. So Lola Lourdes dropped me for not following the traditional classical piano playing, but I kept going.
I don’t want to bore you with my story, (sorry, I think I already did ) so I will try to keep it short and simple. I am just a cheerful, bubbly, energetic, and a down to earth person. Although, I have my moments, who doesn’t, right? I have a vivid imagination when I write songs as you can see, so it does require various persona to get the message across.
I am an accomplished songwriter in the Philippines, my songs have been sung by various artists such as Melissa Gibbs, Sunshine Cruz, Angelou De Leon of TGIS and other famous Filipino Artists. I also wrote jingles for radio and TV commercials. My initial vocal training was in 2009 with Lis Lewis (Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Colbie Caillat) and I work with Michael Goodrich for voice maintenance from time to time. I started official public performances in 2010 along with my band members Ryan Brown (Drums & Percussions) and Trent Stroh (Bass Guitar), you will get to see their photos later as you explore this site.
As these musicians are so in demand with tight schedules, I have had the opportunity to work with other fine musicians here in L.A..
You will meet them too and hear their sound as you continue exploring.
I finished my 9 tracks Debut-Album; MASQUERADE last year, which has been described by many as "Broadway meets Coldplay". Worked with Producer: Rob Seals - who is one of the most respected people in the music industry and also the founder of The Songwriting School of Los Angeles. Finally, the CD release party on October was a huge success!
5 years in the making, oh, and also got a good review from Music Connection Magazine.
Are you still there? Promise I am almost done...thank you for reading if you reached this part. I appreciate it.
Hhhmm, Let's connect then. Just check out my music on iTunes, E-music, Spotify, CDBaby, Amazonmp3, and others. Or maybe we can hang out one of these days after one of my gigs in town. What do you think? Yes, no? Come on... Please!
